International Break Concacaf Nations League
It's the time of year when European soccer takes a backseat as the international giants of the nation Concacaf finally get back into action. This will be the first time we see all international teams post-World Cup.
Today in action we saw Mexico go toe to toe with Jamaica as well as the United States vs Grenada
Many people coming into the fixture believe that this would be a walk in the park for the Tri as they look to avenge themselves after a disappointing World Cup performance. However, this was anything but a walk in the park as the Azetcas found themselves trailing within the first 8 minutes of the match on a Rainy night at the Estadio Azeteca. A sensational one-time strike from outside the box that rocketed to the top right corner (Reid 8'). A couple minutes after Mexico was able to find a seam in Jamaica's defense and managed to sneak in a goal and tie the match up at 1-1 (Pineda 17'). After a lot of action in the first half the score was knotted up at 2-2 (OG Alvarez 33') (Lozano 45'). Despite a close 2nd half, no side was able to break the deadlock as the match ended with both teams taking a point.
This fixture was a breeze for the men in red, white, and blue as they steamrolled a helpless Grenada who sit at #173 in the official Fifa rankings. It did not take long for the floodgates to open as Ricardo Pepi found the back of the net early it only took the US 5 minutes to get ahead. After that, it was downhill for the Caribbean island. They were to pull one back in the 32' minutes.
