Week 5 A look ahead

A look ahead at the fixtures of the week of

April 3-6

Marquee Matchups this week include Chelsea vs Liverpool on Tuesday and on Wednesday the 2nd leg of el SUPER Clasico Real Madrid vs Barcelona.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid

It's here!! the super Clasico is back as the stakes have risen. A chance to play in the Copa del Rey finale vs the winner of the other semi-final Elche or Athletico Bilbao. In the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, Barca was able to top the Champions League giants thanks to a goal by unsung hero Franck Kessie. Despite Barcelona having key players out due to injury (Pedri and Dembele) they were able to pull ahead in the two-leg series. Although holding a 1-goal cushion is a thin margin in a huge game like this any lead can prove to be vital. Barcelona is currently 1st in La Liga with 71 points with 2nd place Madrid trailing them at 59 points. Madrid has not found much success against their arch-rivals Barcelona and hopes to steal this series from the catalanes.

Chelsea vs Liverpool

Two massive English clubs that have been struggling this season will face off head-to-head as they are only separated by 3 points. After a defeat to Aston Villa, Chelsea later that evening sacked their manager Graham Potter after only serving as head coach for 31 matches (shortest in the premier league history). Liverpool has anything but a mere shadow of the team they were last year. The suffered one of the worst defeats in their team's history, losing 7-0 to Manchester United. Both teams will look to bounce back and hopefully get their season back on the roll.
